    Default HQ Opcom

I have recently purchased a vx nano gm but soon realised for Vauxhall it's pretty much useless, it only communicates to one or 2 areas of the car with mostly nothing working. Seems to work well for NA GM vehicles though by the looks of reviews, but useless to me.

So I am looking to purchase a HQ opcom clone instead. Can anyone recommend where I could get one from (pref uk), or from abroad?

What is the difference between the china clone and hq opcom. Is it just the hq can be updated to support the latest software, or does it use better quality chips etc?

What exactly makes it high quality?

Apologies, I think I should of posted this in the hardware discussion section.

Oddly enough I have a v5 board already, no clue if the pic chip is real though. I think I've updated it before but can't be 100%.

    Can you tell from pictures?

Or is the only way to find out is to update it and risk bricking it?

    Hi.
From the photo it appears you have a real PIC 18F458 at 99.9%. There are no D5 and C22 components on the board and the date on the back is 2007.12.10 not 2013.xx.xx Best Firmware in my experience to work with fake Vaux Com 12. 14 or 16 is FW 1.64.
    Good Luck.

I may purchase the one you recommended over in that other thread only because I assume you have to pay a nominal fee to have a chap with the hardware to activate the latest opcom?

I'm not sure how the activation works but would want to avoid paying that twice, if say for some reason it doesn't play nice with the latest opcom.

    Good idea?

I don't really want to stomach the price of nearly £50 for something like the attached:

    OPCOM-2018

I'm little disappointed really to find out HQ just means your using a genuine pic. I was hoping it would be a substantially better built board, say worth £80 - £100.

The software images 170823c are authentic, but the Chinese don't write anything about software activation.
PCB board is Opcom V6 with fake PIC 18F458. Note the date 2013.xx.xx and on the second page for the D5 and C22 components. Firmware that works with Opcom 170823c is 1.66 and 1.67 from Opcom 181022a.
Write them an email and ask how they activate the Opcom 17xxxxC EN software to make it work with their interface.

i take it all opcom 2013 years have a fake pic chip? So is the highest I should be looking for 2007?

Also what does it signify if the board does or doesn't have the D5 and C22 components you mentioned?

I wrote to you that your opcom V5 has 99.99% real PIC 18F458. Don't look for another cable, but someone who will convert it to HQ Clone or activate newer software.
