Default Toyota Prius 2005 mileage stuck at 299999

    Hi all,

I need your opinion on your knowledge on this matter. A friend of mine has a Toyota Prius 2005 and the mileage is stuck at 299999. I'be been reading that there's a problem with these clusters and only changing by a new one it solves the problem, o also read that there's a problem on the eeprom, that needs to be replaced by a different one to be able to continue to count mileage.

Can this be done by replacing the eeprom? Or anything else needs to be done to solve this problem?

My friend leaves 600km away from me, at the moment I don't have the eeprom dump available. I don't want him to make a 600 km's for nothing if you know what I mean.

    Thanks for your help.

That will probably be the last resource, for now I want to know if it’s possible to solve this issue without replacing the cluster.

No, and it is not an eeprom problem, it is a imitation in the MCU programming that it will not display over 299999.

If you read the eeprom, it is still counting up and and the actuel mileage can be determined.

Read the eeprom to determine the actual km,
Reduce correction the km say by -50000km or -100000km as long as the new km is less than 299999km
Any km less than 299999 will start counting again.
To know the actual km just add what km reduction + the km = actual km

Or Just correct any new km to less than 299,999km (of course your choice) will start
    counting again. easy as pie

Like I already told him, set to 0Km and @299999 to Km for real KM.

The problem to return the mileage to 0, or rolling back to any mileage is the inspection the car does every year like MOT. Is that they keep record of the mileage and I can’t justify why the mileage was rolled back.

The intention was to fix this, and have the mileage restored.

I think these guys do fix this problem:

Does anyone know how they do it?

I can tell you exactly how they fix it, like every other repair shop in the world they set it to zero and give you a sticker for the door.
