Default Vw/ skoda Johnson speedo help needed

Hi I have just bought a new smelecom,I have had some experience with a dp4 but mostly obd stuff ,just tried smelecom to do a 2014 skoda with the 95128 chip and got myself in a mess looking for some help ,plugged in stag 1 turned off dash and removed ,next soldered wires and read skey and it says success, next tried to read eeprom with c12 while still on the board ,it went to read kms then it said enter file from stage 2 done that but kept saying failed to read kms, I friend said better to remove chip and read with eeprom reader but still got the same response, and now to make things worse I have somehow broken the top right leg off the chip ,anyway looking for some please if you can ,thanks guys

Hi , I only received the smelecom Thursday, I already have a diagprog4, but only really done obd miles change ,So a guy came in just after the new tool arrived and asked if I could do it 2014 skoda octavia johnson cluster ,I plugged in hopping it was obd job ,first it turned the dash off ,then stage 2 read skey customer said he didn't have time to have cluster out ,but couldn't turn it back on and car not starting, went to step 4 hoping it would turn cluster back on but said failed ,so removed cluster step 2 read skey soldered wires on ,connected and it said success, step 3 read 95128 tried with c12 on the board ,it started then says read kms then says add file from step 2 but then says miles not read , so I removed the chip and broke the top right leg ,tried to read with eeprom reader but not reading tried to get something to make a contact with reader and broken leg but no good ,have read a bit more and chip is quiet tuff so tomorrow will try and remove carbon around the broken leg to get a wire soldered on it ,that's where I am ,I see you also replied to my citroen bsi problem 2 in 1 week first time in 3 years

wont work here, since cluster is set to a special state needed for programming.

try to fix the eeprom, and try to make some normal sentences, your text is hard to read.
if you cannot fix, its gonna be very hard, or maybe impossile to reproduce the data on the chip.
i think best mount a vdo dash (needs to be learned in), when done, you can change km by obd.

    1. You remove eeprom before reading skey (well thats how most machines do it)
    2. You dont read an eeprom in circuit, especially not a for a job like this
    3. Check dash version is supported rather than just assuming its johnson control and its gna work

argh ok i misread it i thought it said he went to read data and dash went off, didnt realise he started the process of reading skey etc. most customers i get for these models walk away if they dont go obd , they dont want them taken apart.

you cant just swap cluster without regards to part number, it must be the same or a superseded part number otherwise you get "incompatible hardware detected" when adapting with ODIS
