    Default EDC16U34 EEPROM checksum question.

Simple question for the more knowledgeable people here.

I have an EDC16U34. I wish to change VIN, mileage and reset the flash counter. Simple enough.
Now, is there a free tool/utility/program that can calculate the checksum for the ST95320 EEPROM?

    Follow up:
    1) Do I even need to correct the checksum? Or can I just alter VIN, mileage and flash counter and BDM it back to the ECU?
    2) Can the checksum be calculated manually?

    Note:
I took the stock eeprom file, made my changes and exported. I then compared the original file to my modified file. I didn't see any data values changed other then the ones that I physically altered.

If you have information that can help me, I'd be very grateful. If you'd like to keep this on the down low, then send me a private message please.

PS-I'm fairly new and still searching/looking for an answer.

Thanks to all and have a great day.

of course you don't see error if you only compare it, load it in ecu and mount it in car the see what happens...
you need to do checksum, post your file

also why you have only 2 post here in 2 years?? not interested in helping other members?

Yes, I only have two posts here in two years. But I've also thanked three people that had good information relevant to me. I've spent the last year reading, learning and looking at the flash files associated with my current ECU, EDC16U34. As you can see, I'm new and just starting out. I'd like to help others but I want to offer proper answers. I'm not that knowledgeable yet. We can't have the blind leading the blind here. We're better then that.

I posted this thread in the help and discussion section in hopes of gaining more information about the EEPROM in my ECU. I would like to find a tool that offers to do a checksum properly before I flash it back.

I thank you for your offer to do a checksum correction for me. I know professionals invest money for the proper tools to do the job. I get that. I also know that this is an older ECU now and there were free tools on this site to do checksums. The threads are old and the files no longer exist. I guess I'll keep searching.

If I was a professional tuner, then this wouldn't be an issue. WinOLS genuine, combined with the correct EEPROM plug-in, would be all I need. As an amateur, I'm looking for alternative options.
    VAG CHKSUM IT seemed interesting.
We all know EDC16 Calc can do some changes and has a checksum button for the features that it can correct.

for this ecu you dont need expensive tools, CS can be done by brain.exe
