    Default Hextag / Hexprprog

A friend read some eeproms with the clip adapter from xhorse and hextag. He said there are a lot of eeproms where you must lift a leg with xhorse but with hextag not. Has hextag a special procedure for that problem?

is in worth to buy the hexprog instead of hextag?

Hextag and Hexprog are like VVDI Prog and VVDI2

They do different things - Prog is programmer to read and wriite eeproms and mcu
Hextag is mostly OBD tool to program keys by OBD

    now this is interesting....

my personal experience is the AutoHex clip is the ONLY quality one - 3M
saying that I ONLY USE for FEM modules. So maybe others say different

Thrown all clips in bin from Autel, XHorse, etc

    ----------

best if you invest in hot air gun as removing is safer (in my view). Good luck

Autel clip went in the bin just after few months - now I use Pomona clip that is not too bad

I use hot gun only on old mercedes MCU all eepromes that need to read I read them on circuit without lift the legs

Rule no 1 in programming, always remove eeprom, We become lazy to read in circuit but how many times do we see threads about something gone wrong, cluster data corrupted etc etc

i always remove, prefer it, atleast i know my read is good, some eeproms when using clip send power to processor which again can damage cluster airbag module or whatever your working with, hence why DP4 have diagrams to make a bridge before reading in circuit which kills the power to processor, Yet still many still kill eeprom data with DP4, best is 30 seconds heat & remove

I found this adapter with a voltage switch. Is this make the readings safer?

    As said remove chip.

messing with eeproms should be taken seriously as you could cause thousand of pounds/dollars damage in seconds.
