Hi all. i followed the tutorial to reflash my cable to 805 but no luck, i may not have removed all the vagcom software so i will try again, in the tutorial it says to copy the vcds_805_soft\hosts to the windows directory to remove the blacklisted serial but i cannot find the file, if anyone could help. Thanks

Hi dariusddj, thanks for the quick reply, i must be stupid? do i have to copy vcds_805_soft\hosts to the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ and if so where is vcds_805_soft\hosts. thanks

Have spent many hours studying this and believe have gathered everything needed to "fix" this 912 clone, and also maybe program other EEPROMs, like for airbag resets.What I don't have is the understanding of the basics of flashing the chips, even after reading these threads and tutorials. Not sure how to actually begin, how to connect to the FTDI, whether to flash the ATMEGA on the board or off, and if the programmers and adapters I've collected are of any use. Reading that some if not all of these procedures can be done without special equipment. Have wanted to get involved, and learn how it all fits together, and what works and what doesn't.. Trouble is don't have time to experiment, would rather pay someone to fix this clone, or help with what is probably common sense for you guys, or just bite the bullet and buy an original Ross-Tech.

I don't see a lot of VWs, but still want to have the best coverage I can afford for all makes. The VAG-COM would be a good "scanner" to add to the collection: Genisys, MT2500, AutoEnginuity, CarDaq+, HIM, assorted ELM and generic interfaces. (Big thanks to DK members for HDS and Techstream among other valuable resources)

So anyone , preferably in US who can help me directly by phone or send VAG-COM to you for modding. I will make it worth your time..If it helps others, also will gladly share what I've learned here, and have experienced over the last 30 or so years.. Please reply or PM me ....Thanks to all

Reading through again, and tutorials. I should spend a few hours to try. It's already broke, so it couldn't hurt too much. Still not sure of the GAL16V8, not mentioned in 805 tutorial, but is in Final Solution (Thanks AMINEBOT) Will play with it this weekend..Thanks again

Creat a hosts file in the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ with this line:
127.0.0.1 update.ross-tech.com

unpack the rar file and copy to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\
