    Hallo Guys.

I see you all are struggling with VCDS killing the cable. I have same issue for long time. I have to re-flash Atmega sometimes very day. I have made all kind of hosts modifications,....

At the end I have put the COMODO Firewall at my computer. This soft Firewall is now blocking my VCDS.exe from internet. I have seen with the time that the VCDS is traing to connect to different IP addresses during the time.

    Please do so:

    Uninstal all previos VCDS programs.

Clean the registry of all Keys (VAGCOM, VCDS, Rosstech,...)

Reinstal the VCDS 11.11 without internet connection.

Install Comodo Firewal (it is free for download), and put all the VCDS.exe file from VCDS map to BLOCKED APPS.

Reflash your cables Atmega and FTDI.

Now you are free to work eawen with internet ON.

    BR

    Firewall can be a solution.
But Firewall can creat issues in the good working of the softwear.
Even Ross-tech said that it is better to turn off the firewall and AntiVirus because in one systems they cannot guarantee that it will work well.
Run as data can creat problems to the VCDS softwear too.
Some guys report that even they installed the Ashampoo firewall and of course they did what you did in your Firewall version, blocking the get out to the internet of the VCDS.exe, they had an erased tool after a while.
This solution are not in generally good for all systems. In one works in other don't.
All this solutions maked public in forums will be a tematic for ross-tech new protections
And of course there's can be other solutions too
    Good luck

I have made my own solution.
Drilled 5mm hole on the top of the interface, soldered wires on the board and took them out. Connected to a connector - Now i dont have to disassemble anything to reflash doing it on the fly, i even can use the 11.11.4 software for one time, until the cable is removed.

Anyway, after fighting with the cable-reflashing (rosstech) decided to buy genuine interface in the near future and my problems will be over

Good poit. I have buy this china version, that have integrated ISP conections MISO, MOSI, SCK and RST. I have to just solder 5 pins to board and solved.

See the picture. But is thru that I have to open the interface.

The connection is 1:1 to ISP connection on BeeProg

The harwead it is ok, this it isn't metter.
The problem it is the dump and the softwear.
In china there's no VCDS 11.11.3 good one. And the Chinese softwear it is for a kind of RL tools
Take care what you buy and from who
    Good luck

You need other flash amega's for these cables also.

Or you shall alter a cable, and program a known flash.
