First test your cable with A4 B5. And it don't use CAN for diagnostics. Only K1 and K2.
What engine you have in that B4? Let's hope it's not a 2.3 10v or 2.0 16v trash.

Edit: Cable works fine on Audi A4 B5, but it wont connect to Audi 80 B4. I have read that B4 has a hard time connecting to anything. is there anything i can do to improve that?

That's why I wrote that vcds lite 1.2 is better for older cars. To speed up communication with the Audi B4 you need to change the START BAUD from "0" to 9600. In vcds lite 1.2 you can do it many times. With vcds hex can start baud you can set before the first connection (OPTION) of the cable. You need to install the software again and set the start baud.

Hello, I bought VCDS 18.2 clone running with 1.12 loader.

When I connect it to car, it blinks red and thank lights solid green. After running software and trying test, while connected to car, it says: port ok, interface not found. On the other hand, when connected only to laptop interface is found with status: Not plugged into Car. Anyone has idea how to solve issue?

Hello guys. I have flashed about 10 VCDS (15.7 RED PCB, 12.12 GREEN and 17.0, 17.8) with kolimers v4 and v5 loader, everything was fine. But now i am stuck. I don't know why but last 3 VCDS clone 17.8.1 i cant reflash with USBasp - when i first time conected i can read chip, i add PROJECT from v5 and PRESS AUTO. Atmega starting programming but after about 10 s i geting error (somthing about can't verify flash or...), and i am try second time with project from v4 - this same problem. After 3-4 times programming i getting another ERROR - CANT ENABLE CHIP. And no more cant read ATMEGA. I have 3 same interfaces now with same problem.

Because I made these pics from my cable about 4 months ago. If you check the AT162, you will see a written 182 sign on the top. This interface came like a 18.2 cable and it's type is HW44 and running proper with Kolimer's v6.3

But don't need to reinstall vcds to change this value. If it really helps or not.
It's read by vcds once program starts. Need to restart vcds so it would read edited config again.
Never used it really in A4 B5, A6 C4 and A6 C6. All connections were succesfull using default 0.
Does it make initial connection with these 20 year old cars faster? Sorry, haven't tested it.

I changed Start Baud to 9600 when I could not connect to the engine at all. In the Audi a4 1.8T and 1.9 Tdi, 2.5 Tdi has helped. I did not have to do it in all old cars.
