Anyone here can confirm this story?

my computer is still alive and working but anyway some cleanup should be help, because now I haven't idea which driver is really in the system (during the test 3-4 versions of VCDS..)..

anyway, from 10.6.3 was everytime corrupted small eeprom for FTDI on my clone .. that what I saw yet..

When I said format, it was just a way to say =)

The virtual machine was/is my only option.

How do you know that there is nothing related to that supposed protection from VCDS in the register?!

I found lots of entrys in the register pointed to "c:\rosstech\vcds" even when I erased everything.

I found other entries in the desktop, but that's just were I store the installers and what so ever...

You can remove the drivers in the Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel.

The entry is something like: "Windows Driver Package - Ross Tech"

Are you talking about that 8 pin SOIC 93C56 eeprom?

Do you have the original dumps for that eeprom?

I never understood what was the point of that eeprom. Is it related to FTDI?

yes, in the cable are two eeprom. One is related to the FTDI (hold configuration of USB) and second is in Atmel (hold serial key)

What Rosstech do, is scrap sometimes this FTDI-EEPROM (If identify clone is connected), so cable next time isn't recognize as "Ross-tech HEX USB" cable but as Serial USB Converter (in better case) or worst case you need special VID/PID driver to install driver for this 'device' and than you can fix with sometool from the internet (or my tool from package)

so this eeprom hold VID/PID, some serial number (isn't same [probably] as in inside of Atmel-EEPROM, settings for USB, Identification text and others stuff..

My Idea, what I want to try soon is assembled here 93LC76 or 93LC86 and try it, because this eeprom has PE (program enable) pin.. So Rosstech doesn't kill my device again..

On this position is allowed 93LC46/93LC56..etc.. Datasheet doesn't talking about 93LC76/93LC86.. but should be works (probably datasheet from FTDI is old)

The tool for FTDI eeprom access is called MProg, now is newest version but MProg is still accessible from webpage..
About contains, I have contains different then RT0001, but is from clone.

When you look on my package some thread ago, there is package 7MB, inside is program "Eeprom programmer_RTQX65IX.exe"
for run needs also library FTD2XX_NET, try run.. you will see what happend.. It Is working like MPROG, but is simplest..

After removing everything related to VCDS from my computer, including drivers and removing all VCDS entries from the register I started all over again with FLASH1.81 and EEPROM908.0.

    Everything is ok now!!!!

But now I wanna test with FLASH1.83 and EEPROM908.0 to see what happens!

Maybe this issue was due to the instalation of VCDS10.6.3 and after a register delete the problem was solved... maybe?!?! or maybe not... Let's see.
