Hi, i have a VAG106 clone cable which was working well until last month, but i lost the Disc and format my laptop.
I tried to instal VCDS 10.6.0 and its drivers but when i connect the cable and TEST in VCDS, i obtain "NOT PLUGGED INTO CAR"
Cable connect only to OBD, led green
Cable connect OBD and USB, led red

I think the problem is a not correct drivers or software, someone have the correct one?

    Thanks!

Could you elaborate about that a bit?

If I could guess (I did some work on this back in the days) the they are still using RSA for public key encryption and these cloners have dumped the original VCDS cable and extracted the private/public key?

    Anyway.
I have three of these clone cables atm. One is using the STM32F405 protected using RDP leved 2 and the other two is using the STM32F415 and is protected using RDP level 1.
I have successfully dumped RDP level 2 protected chips by double glitching but its far more easy to glitch the system bootloader when the chip is set to RDP level 1
All these three cables are using the same serial number (displayed in the VCDS sw) and is locked to support VCDS 20.4.1 only. That is the unmodified/uncracked version of VCDS 20.4.1

I also ordered a VCDS that should support upgrades but I canceled the order once I was informed that it would require a loader for the upgrade.
However I got a copy of the update software and a video on how to do the upgrade and it looks like this upgrader is made by the cloner.
The software itself is protected using vmprotect but I have some experience reversing this protector so will try to extract the VCDS firmware from it when I get the time. (I believe it is embedded in the exe file and not downloaded on the fly)

Oh! Please let me know if such a dump already exists so I don't waste my time inventing the wheel all over again

    regards

Update the windows exe file or the STM32F405 firmware?
If it updates the STM chip then is the new firmware embedded in the VIIPlusLoader or will the FW be downloaded from VCDS server?

Can someone tell me if the cable on the right support updates?
It uses the 405 chip but I bought it as a 20.4.1 only before these upgradable cables was on sale.

Cable on the left is the 415 and if I understand this correctly this does not support updates? Or at least not using the VIILoader?
This is the chip I will try to dump and see whats on it.
